The Village of Farmingdale with be the next destination for our Downtown Walking Tour series.
AICP credit maintenance: One (1) CM credit has already been approved.
Thursday February 27th will be especially exciting as the Village will be holding its Winter Wonderland festival from 6:30-8:30pm with their Main Street vendors and strongly encourages tour participants to join in the fun after the scheduled walking tour and networking session. Village Administrator Brian Harty will be giving the tour, with expected attendance from Mayor Ralph Ekstrand and some of the Trustees.
The 4:30pm tour will focus on the Village’s recent success stories within their overall downtown revitalization effort, with an emphasis on TOD near the LIRR station. The networking session at 5:30pm at the Library Café continues the theme with the showcasing of a successful restaurant and bar, which was repurposed from a historic Village landmark.
Even if you can’t make the tour, please feel free to participate in the networking session and the Winter Wonderland festival. To RSVP for either the tour and/or networking session (the Village needs to give Library Café a heads-up on people), please email Ann Fangmann at afangmann@db-eng.com with “Farmingdale Walking Tour” in the subject line.
We are limited to the first 20 sign-ups for the walking tour so please RSVP soon to secure a spot.
Itinerary:
- 4:30pm-Group to assemble in lobby of the Village Hall (361 Main Street), followed by walking tour
- 5:30pm-Optional networking session at the Library Café (274 Main Street)
- 6:30pm-Farmingdale’s Winter Wonderland event begins (Village Hall), group is encouraged to participate.
Municipal parking is located behind Village Hall and at other locations off of Main Street, look for the signs.
We are hoping that this will be the second of many such tours (following our successful tour in Patchogue) around Long Island where planners can see the activity that has occurred and network with others. We hope to secure CM Credits for these mobile workshops.
