Featuring keynote speaker, Mitchell Silver, former national APA President, the conference intends to focus on recognizing past social and environmental issues and on seizing upon current best practices and funding availability. This course is intended to fulfill the New York State required training for municipal planning and zoning officials. This program will offer 4 CLE credits in the Areas of Professional Practice (non-transitional attorneys). AICP Certification Maintenance (CM) credits will be requested (credits will need to be self-reported). On Thursday, September 21st, 2023, David Viana along with the Village of Mineola Mayor Paul Pereira hosted a tour of downtown Mineola. Representatives from the MTA, NICE Bus, NYU Langone Research & Academic Center and Lalezarian Properties were also in attendance and spoke at the various stops along the tour. The tour highlighted how growth and development throughout the Village over the last decade have been integral to the successful revitalization of Mineola’s downtown. The tour began at the recently completed Mineola Long Island Rail Road Station, which serves as a major transportation hub for all of Nassau County and is a great complement to the ongoing downtown revitalization of Mineola.

The Long Island Section would like to thank David Viana and Mayor Paul Pereira for organizing and hosting an informative and fun afternoon in the downtown, as well as the representatives from the MTA, NICE Bus, NYU Langone Research & Academic Center and Lalezarian Properties. We look forward to more walking tours this year!

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the American Planning Association, NY Metro Chapter, Long Island Section along with Village of Mineola Mayor Paul Pereira, are hosting a comprehensive tour of downtown Mineola’s major developments. The tour will take place between 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. (rain or shine). We will be meeting at the Mineola Long Island Rail Road Station at 2:00 p.m. Following the tour, we will be gathering at The St. James on Second Street. CM credits are being requested.
